The very popular YouTube Channel Fully Charged is taking its show on the road with Fully Charged LIVE Australia expected to see up to 15,000 consumers attend.
Fully Charged LIVE Australia will ensure it has ‘almost every EV available’ and today we learn of one unreleased EV that will be on display at the show.
The MG4 will get its first public preview at the show, held at the ICC Sydney from the 11th-12th March.
This car will be one of Australia’s most affordable electric vehicles to hit the market in 2023. The car that was spotted doing testing last December, is expected to land under $50k mark and has a real chance at being Australia’s cheapest new EV.
While Australian specs are still to be absolutely confirmed, we can learn a lot about the MG4 from the details in overseas markets.
The standard version is powered by a 51kWh battery, but will also be offered with a larger 64 kWh pack. The acceleration is expected to be around 7.9s from 0-100km/h and while that’s no Tesla, it’ll give most ICE equivalents a run for their money.
From the EV-Database, we understand the MG4 can manage as much as 450 km on the WLTP rating, or 365km with the smaller battery.
The car is likely to support DC fast charging at up to 135kW over the CCS2 connector. This will make it compatible with the vast majority of fast-charging locations in Australia, albeit a decent bit slower than the max charging speed of 350kW.
Seating 5 passengers, and 2 ISOfix point for car seats, this is likely going to be popular with families. The vehicle is rated to tow a small trailer with a 500kg payload capacity.
Right now, there are no references to the MG4 don’t he Aussie homepage for MG, so we look to the UK version to confirm it’ll have a 10.25″ touchscreen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
When it comes to technology, the car offers a lot.
The MG Pilot Advanced Driver Assistance Systems include:
– Active Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Bicycle Detection
– Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning System
– Traffic Jam Assist
– Intelligent Speed Limit Assist with Traffic Sign Recognition

As with most modern EVs, you can connect remotely to them via your smartphone. In the case of the MG4, owners will use the MG iSMART app which allows them to monitor the charging status of their vehicle, find their nearest charging point, as well as pre-starting the climate control system.
Overall the MG4 appears to be a great addition to the Australian EV landscape and if you have your eyes set on it, then getting a look at Fully Charged Live next month in Sydney, could be a great early opportunity.
The MG4 will join the updated ZS EV long-range with 440km of range (WLTP).
BYD will go one step further offering test drives of their Atto 3, as will the show’s Sustainability Partner, the Polestar 2.
In addition to the car-related attractions, ticket holders will also be able to access an array of features, including the incredibly popular Home Energy Advice Team (H.E.A.T.) powered by Origin Energy, M1CRO MACH1NES for boards, bikes and scooters, the Family Fun Zone and the Electric Café.
The perennial favourite at all the Fully Charged LIVE shows worldwide are the 40+ ‘live sessions’ across 2 stages – the Giga Theatre, powered by Polestar, and the Mega Theatre, powered by Enphase Energy. Sessions will be hosted by Fully Charged presenters Robert Llewellyn and Elliot Richards and Australian YouTubers including Simone Annan (CarTell TV), Sam Evans (Electric Viking) and Rosemary Barnes (Engineering with Rosie).
Look out on the Fully Charged SHOW and Everything Electric SHOW on YouTube this February and March for around 15+ episodes and podcasts filmed in Australia, as part of the Fully Charged LIVE campaign.
Fully Charged LIVE Australia, kindly supported by the NRMA, takes place on the top deck (inside and outside) of the ICC Sydney, overlooking Darling Harbour, on Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th March 2023.
“As the husband of a long- suffering Australian, it’s amazing to finally be bringing our unique take on clean energy and electric vehicles to Sydney. I
t’s hard to describe just how positive these events have been in the UK, US and Europe, and we know that you will have a wonderful weekend. I’d like to express our gratitude to all of our sponsors and exhibitors for making this possible, not least the NRMA and I’d like to extend a special shoutout to the Electric Vehicle Council too.
Even after all these years, I am still excited about seeing all the new bits of kit on display, not least the cars that we’ve yet to see at home and also the brilliant MG4, as I’ve just bought one and it’s waiting for me back in Britain!

“MG Motor Australia is putting our customer’s priorities at the centre of our soon to be released MG4 and current ZS EV so we can continue providing the best driving experience possible and make EVs’ more accessible to all Australians.
As the FullyCharged event debuts in Sydney for the first time ever, we are excited to be a part of this event and have the opportunity to showcase our newest model, the MG4.
We know this model will speak to many people’s needs and wants in Australia and New Zealand as it has with other markets around the world.
The MG4 is the first MG to be based on our EV-only MSP (Modular Scalable Platform). This introduction of our EV-only platform signals our ongoing commitment to ‘Take Charge’ and intention to move toward an EV future.”
