The restoration works of the traffic overpass over Kārlias Ulmaņas gatvi on Jūrkalnes street, which were started in August of last year, have been completed.
“This traffic overpass is one of Riga’s business cards, as it leads to and from Riga Airport. It was renovated to improve the safety of traffic on and below it. This season we will also make improvements to the fitted knees. Continuous asphalt laying works will be carried out immediately behind the overpass on Jūrkalnes Street on the Zolitude side. We will also replace the pavement on the on- and off-ramp of the overpass,” says Vilnis Ķirsis, deputy chairman of the Riga City Council for traffic and development issues.
During the restoration works, defects in the reinforced concrete structures supporting the transmission – supports and beams – as well as other structures were repaired. Damage to the stairs and water drainage system was also repaired.
The reconstruction of the traffic overpass was carried out by the limited liability company “Rīgas tilti”, the reconstruction of the overpass cost approximately one million euros.
