During the control of freight trains entering from Belarus, border control officials prevented the smuggling of 157,200 cigarettes (7,860 packs of cigarettes). The cigarettes were hidden in a cargo of electrical materials.
Yesterday, May 29, 2022, at the Indra customs control point, during the control of a train arriving from the Republic of Belarus, undeclared goods – cigarettes – were found in a wagon with a cargo of cables and wires. They were hidden in coils of cables.
As a result of the control, officials of the State Border Guard and the Customs Administration of the State Revenue Service (SRS) seized a total of 157,200 “NZ Gold” and “Queen” cigarettes with excise goods brands of the Republic of Belarus. The amount of taxes unpaid to the state for the seized cigarettes is approximately 27,000 euros.
When signs of a criminal offense were detected during customs control, the case materials were handed over to the Tax and Customs Police Department of the SRS for a decision on the initiation of criminal proceedings.
