The Copyright Alliance has launched a nationwide initiative mobilizing creators to influence upcoming U.S. policies on artificial intelligence. Their campaign urges lawmakers to adopt approaches that protect creative works used in AI development.
The organization wants to ensure that American artists and professionals retain control over their output and receive fair compensation for its use. Already, thousands of letters have been sent to policymakers in Washington, with the campaign leveraging digital ads, social media outreach, research, and events to amplify its message. The Copyright Alliance also has grassroots letter templates for concerned artists who want to make sure their voice is heard.
The effort emphasizes that robust protection of creative rights is essential for continued innovation and global leadership, especially as the U.S. faces mounting competition from abroad. The campaign’s core message is “Strong IP, Strong AI, Strong US” and underscores the belief that safeguarding creative works fuels both technological advancement and economic strength.
Music professionals are encouraged to join the grassroots movement, share their stories, and advocate for policies that recognize the value of their contributions in the evolving AI landscape. The campaign aims to ensure that American innovation and creative output remain protected and that the United States does not lose its competitive edge by undervaluing the work of its creators.
“Our message is simple: America does best when there is honest competition, property rights are respected and enforced, and creativity is valued and protected,” says Copyright Alliance CEO Keith Kupferschmid. “In the global race for leadership on AI, we want to beat China, not be China.”
The Copyright Alliance is a non-profit, non-partisan public interest and educational organization representing the copyright interests of more than two million individual creators and over 15,000 organizations in the United States. The organization is dedicated to advocating for policies that promote and preserve the value of copyright and protecting the rights of creators and innovators.
