Megan Thee Stallion stars in her first full-length documentary, ‘In Her Words,’ from Amazon MGM Studios, premiering on October 31.

Megan Thee Stallion is getting ready for her annual Hottieween celebration in style, with a full-length documentary on the way from Amazon MGM Studios. The documentary, In Her Words, premieres on October 31 on Prime Video.

“I’m nervous and excited for y’all to see it, but it’s finally here,” Megan wrote on Instagram.

Directed by Nneka Onuorah — best known for directing the eight-episode Lizzo series, Watch Out for the Big Grrrls — the two-hour documentary follows Megan Thee Stallion through her rise to stardom in hip-hop and beyond.

Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words offers unprecedented access to the multi-faceted woman behind the persona,” reads a synopsis for the film. “Follow the Houston native’s journey on the road to stardom as she tenaciously navigates fame, grief, pressure, and success. The documentary unpacks Megan’s most vulnerable moments in a powerful way that allows fans to meet the real Megan Pete.”

The film promises to highlight Megan’s struggles in addition to her meteoric rise to fame, and enable her to control her own narrative. Her mother, who was also her manager early in her career, passed away after a battle with brain cancer in 2019, and her great-grandmother passed away only two weeks later.

On top of that, Megan dealt with the aftermath of being shot in the foot by her former friend and fellow recording artist, Tory Lanez, in 2020. Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2023 after a lengthy court battle. During the ordeal, Megan experienced a constant barrage of harassment from the public and broader music industry.

“I was very scared that I was not able to be Megan Thee Stallion no more,” the star told Rolling Stone in 2022. “I’m trying every day to get through it and be good. I feel so bad because I don’t feel like anybody’s taking me seriously, but I don’t want them to see me cry. I don’t want them to know that I feel like this, because I don’t want them to feel like, ‘Oh, I got you. I’m breaking you.’”

Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words premieres on Amazon Prime on Halloween, October 31.
