Airlines Flying To The Amalfi Coast

Beginning July 11, 2024, the Spanish budget-friendly airline Volotea (who was awarded Europe’s Best Low-Cost Airline by Skytrax in 2023) begin four routes to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport:

  • Cagliari, Italy (starting in July)

The airport runway has been extended, and work on a new terminal is in progress, with an expected completion date of 2027. There are also plans for continued expansion through 2043.

How To Travel To The Amalfi Coast

For now, travelers can visit the Amalfi Coast via trains and buses. Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport is located nearly 28 miles southeast of Amalfi. About 13 miles away is Salerno.

The airport nearest to the Amalfi Coast is Naples Capodichino Airport, which is about 37 miles north.

Five days spent on the Amalfi Coast are recommended, with the best times to travel in May or September, when the weather is still comfortable, but there aren’t as many crowds.

Summary

The opening of Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport for commercial flights will make it easier to see the beautiful Amalfi Coast, which is welcome news for businesses and the tourism industry in the area. However, some locals are concerned about the impact this will have and possible overtourism, such as what is seen in Venice.
