RIGA — From February 16 to March 26 in the exhibition hall on the 3rd floor of the “AKROPOLE Alfa” shopping center, the personal exhibition “Moment” of artist Laura Vizbule, which is making its debut in Riga, will be on display. The exhibition features more than 10 oil paintings created by the artist since 2019. The paintings reflect rhythmic color games and geometric shapes built in layers. The works of art can be viewed every day from pl. 10.00 to pl. 21.00
The name of the exhibition “Moment” came by chance from what I heard in an interview about the meaning of a moment – it is time that affects the universe, the world and ourselves, everything known and unknown. According to the artist, even an unexpected event is a moment that changes the whole life. Since 2013, the works of Laura Vizbule have been exhibited in several Latvian cities: Jelgava, Liepāja, Alsunga, Tērvete. This exhibition has traveled to Riga for the first time.
The artist graduated from the Latvian Academy of Arts in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in the Visual Arts Department, Glass Art sub-field. In 2018, she obtained a master’s degree in visual plastic art, glass art, at the Latvian Academy of Arts.
“My works are my mirror. When I paint, I am alone with myself. In the process of creating paintings, I allow myself to be unknown, because I never know what the result will be. That is why one of the most complex, but at the same time most wonderful processes in art is creation. This is the only way to know yourself, realize your identity and awaken your soul. Art has taught me freedom – it has formed a paradigm for my sense of life. I also see “moments” in my daily routine – even a gorgeous sunrise on a cold winter morning. I am also happy to introduce my “moments” to Riga residents and city guests. I am pleased that my works are being exhibited in Riga for the first time,” says Laura Vizbule, the author of the works.
“Our exhibition hall was opened last year at the end of summer, and since then visitors have been happy to use the opportunity to combine shopping with viewing the works of talented domestic artists. We want to continue to inspire the visitors of the shopping center, so in the rush of everyday life, we invite you to enjoy and live every moment, allowing yourself to think and feel. Small, special everyday moments are what inspire bigger things. We congratulate Laura on her debut in the capital and wish her inspiration and success in the future,” says Zane Kaktiņa, manager of the “AKROPOLE Alfa” shopping center.
Visiting the exhibition is free. The exhibition can be viewed every day from pl. 10.00 to pl. 21.00 “AKROPOLE Alfa” on the 3rd floor.
