Cardi B threatens legal action against a Twitter user claiming they have proof of Offset cheating on her in a clip many feel was AI-generated.
On Sunday, a Twitter account that appeared to be a Nicki Minaj fan page shared a post accusing Cardi B’s partner, Offset, of infidelity, with a voice note and an alleged picture of the rapper caught cheating. Many questioned the now-deleted post’s authenticity and felt the clip was AI-generated. Now Cardi B says she is suing the user who authored the tweet to make an example of them.
In her post in response, Cardi outlined several inconsistencies between Offset and the person in the image, such as hair and body type. Cardi says the father of the person using the Twitter account might get hit with a lawsuit due to their actions, indicating the user may be a minor.
“So you guys are going to receive a letter from (Offset’s) lawyer,” said Cardi in her since-deleted post. “Because all these little games that you guys want to play online — it’s going to be over with.”
“You’re going to be getting sued, and we’re going to make an example out of you,” she added. “Yeah, and that was a terrible AI voice, by the way.”
The initial tweet was removed, seemingly the result of swift action from Cardi B and Offset’s lawyers, as the person sent another tweet calling Cardi out for getting the content blocked.
“Cardi just copyrighted my tweet,” they wrote, accusing her of being mad at them for the post rather than directing her anger at Offset for cheating. Cardi and Offset have dealt with rumors of infidelity throughout their relationship.
The rapper isn’t one to shy away from litigation, having successfully sued gossip YouTuber Tasha K for defamation in 2022. Tasha K, whose legal name is LaTasha Kebe, filed for bankruptcy 18 months after the verdict ruling that she owes Cardi B more than $3.4 million for defamation. Kebe claims to have less than $60,000 in total assets and is unable to pay the debts she now owes.
