Adele addresses the recent rash of people throwing objects at artists on stage: “I f—ing dare you. Dare you to throw something at me, and I’ll f—ing kill you.”
During a recent “Weekends With Adele” show, the singer called out the recent disturbing trend of people throwing objects at artists on stage. Artists such as Bebe Rexha, Ava Max, and Kelsea Ballerini have been hit by objects or fans themselves during recent performances.
“Have you noticed how people are like, forgetting f—ing show etiquette at the moment? People just throwing shit on stage; have you seen them?” Adele asked the crowd at her Las Vegas residency with the cheekiness of a stand-up comedian while wielding her T-shirt gun.
“I f—ing dare you. Dare you to throw something at me, and I’ll f—ing kill you,” Adele joked on a fan-captured video. “Stop throwing things at the artist when you can shoot things to people,” she added, referencing her T-shirt gun. “I’ve been seeing these people — these people lost it, can you imagine?”
Several artists have been the unfortunate victim of an on-stage attack. At a June concert in New York City, Bebe Rexha was struck in the face by a phone and rushed off stage, leaving her with a black eye and a laceration above her eyebrow. The man, who NYPD identified as “a 27-year-old male” who intentionally threw the phone at Rexha, was later arrested and charged with assault.
The following day, Ava Max was slapped by a concertgoer who rushed the stage during her Los Angeles show. “He slapped me so hard that he scratched the inside of my eye. He’s never coming to a show again,” Max tweeted of the incident.
Most recently, Kelsea Ballerini was hit by an object in Idaho. “If you ever don’t feel safe, please let someone around you know,” Ballerini said on stage after the incident. “If anyone’s pushing too much or you just have that gut feeling, just always flag it. Don’t throw things, you know?”
