This week, residents of Riga and guests of the city are invited to attend free events at the Bolderāja neighborhood festival and four parks of moments of joy – Vērmanes garden, Viesturdārzā, Mazjumprava manor and Nordeķu park. Concerts, creative workshops, literature readings, discussions and educational tours will take place there; will also be able to play games, blow soap bubbles and watch a movie.
Events in the vicinity of Bolderāja
Everyone is invited to experience joyful moments, engage in creative activities and enjoy diverse concerts in the vicinity of Bolderāja. In the first half of the day, families with children will be waiting for a theater show and a disco, in addition to this, diverse creative workshops, games and plein air will be available, they will be able to enjoy the performances of street musicians, while in the second part of the day, musicians beloved by the public will perform on stage.
at 12.00 “Dirty Deal Teatro” invites you to the play “How the sun happened” for children. After that, a two-hour disco for children and parents is expected in the square near the stage with Eric Pigeon, giant puppets and a soap bubble show.
From At 15.00, performances by street musicians and various concerts will be held on the square near the stage and on the territory of Stūrmaņu Street, with performances by musicians such as Diāna Pīrāgs, “Le Petit Paris”, “Jakob Noiman Festival Band”, Ivars Pētersons and “Mariachi Baltica”.
During the celebration of Bolderāja neighborhood from July 29 at 09.00 a.m. to 31 July At 03.00, vehicle traffic will be closed on Stūrmaņu Street (in the section from Gobas Street to Brūžu Street). On the other hand, from July 28 at 20.00 until 31 July At 03.00, the stopping and parking of vehicles will be prohibited on the section of Stūrmaņu Street from Gobas Street to Bružu Street, as well as if necessary, vehicles left behind will be moved to the nearest permitted parking space.
Cultural events in four fun moments parks
Ukrainian culture and literature are still quite foreign in Latvia – in recent years only books translated from Ukrainian have been published on the fingers of one hand, so on Wednesday, July 27, in Viesturdārz from At 19.00, in this bilingual reading, actors Guna Zariņa and Įrts Krūmiņš will read in Latvian, and actress Larisa Semirozumenko will read in Ukrainian. Poetry by Serhiy Zhadan and prose by Irena Karpa, Artem Chapai and Katerina Kalitko will be heard during the readings.
Thursday, July 21, from At 20.00, interested parties are invited to enjoy music on the Vermanes Garden stage, where the “Tenor Trio” will perform with the “Arrivederci Roma” concert program at the fourth park of moments of joy concert. Bright, attractive, recognized by the public and professionals, owners of great voices – such are the members of the musicians’ association “Tenor Trio”, LNOB soloists Raimonds Bramanis, Mihails Čuļpajevs and Juris Vizbulis. In the “Arrivederci Roma” concert program, the artists have chosen to include opera music close to them and loved by the listeners, arranged by Andrejs Puškarev in various musical styles – from classical to jazz.
Also, on this day, everyone at the Mazjumprava manor will have the opportunity to listen to the lecture “Family album”, in which Edvarda Šmite will reflect on the history of the Šmitas-Bauman family. Before the lecture, you can see the Mazjumprava manor mill building and listen to an individual story about it. Meanwhile, even the smallest ones will be able to participate in informative and attractive fun workshops – blowing soap bubbles, making sand applications and playing games. Teams of families and friends are invited to try their hand at the large-format Riga building game. Similar events are expected at the Mazjumprava manor a day later – on July 29, where the audience will be able to watch the Latvian theater classic “A Short Guide to Loving”, whose humorous plot and melodious music can be understood by almost everyone.
On the other hand, on Sunday, Mazjumprava manor visitors will relax on the river bank and the activities organized for the daily life and customs of the water people will allow you to feel the ancient times and understand how the Daugava shaped the environment and daily life of Riga and the people of Riga, how rafts were made. The little ones will be able to participate in attractive fun workshops, while the biggest visitors, families and teams of friends will be able to challenge themselves in a large-format Riga building and history learning game.
Meanwhile, in Viesturdarz on July 30 from At 11.00 a.m. “speed dating” of neighbors will take place – a way in which the residents of the neighborhood can identify opportunities in their area. In this event, regular visitors and guests of Viesturdārz will be able to sit at the same table for 15 minutes to discuss how they can help each other in case of need. A free barter market will also be organized.
On the other hand, the second cultural program of moments of joy in Nordeķu Park on Saturday and Sunday will be dedicated to creative Iļguciems. On July 30, there will be talks about professional art and master workshops with the participation of artists in the summer greenhouse, and on July 31, the free stage will be handed over to the amateur collectives of the “Iļguciems” cultural center. On the west side, the creative spirit of the residents of the neighborhood will be able to express itself in the karaoke of Raimonda Paula’s songs from Ilģuciem.

o “Melo-M” and five Ukrainian musicians who are currently living in Latvia, taking refuge from the war in Ukraine, have created a musicians’ association and will give free concerts “Together we can”.
