Report: Real Madrid set date for Eduardo Camavinga return

Real Madrid expect midfielder Eduardo Camavinga to return from his hamstring injury ahead of schedule, a report has revealed.

Camavinga injured his hamstring during his side’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on 27 November and was expected to need around a month on the sidelines, with most predicting a return in early 2025.

However, according to MARCA, Camavinga has lived up to his reputation of recovering ahead of schedule and Madrid officials are now confident he will play before the calendar year is over.

The final of the inaugural FIFA Intercontinental Cup, which will be held on 18 December, has been earmarked as a likely return date for Camavinga.

The Intercontinental Cup was introduced following the expansion of the Club World Cup and takes on the old format of the latter as a competition for the winners of the AFC Champions League Elite, CAF Champions League, CONCACAF Champions Cup, Copa Libertadores, OFC Champions League and UEFA Champions League.

As the winners of UEFA’s flagship competition, Madrid are automatically granted a place in the final, where they will face either Mexican side Pachuca or Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

While Camavinga is expected to feature in the game, Kylian Mbappe’s involvement has been branded “almost impossible” after he suffered a hamstring injury against Atalanta in midweek.
