Andreas Christensen ‘facing Barcelona exit’ with Bundesliga winner lined up as replacement

Barcelona are believed to be prepared to cash in on centre-back Andreas Christensen in 2025 as part of their quest to raise funds.

Christensen, who joined on a free transfer from Chelsea in 2022, is not currently registered in the Barcelona squad after picking up an injury which has kept him sidelined for the first part of the season.

While he has been out of action, Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez have established themselves as a dominant duo under new manager Hansi Flick, while Ronald Araujo is also expected to play a big role upon his return from injury.

According to Relevo, that has left Christensen on the fringes of Barcelona‘s plans and club officials are now prepared to consider offers for the Denmark international, perhaps as early as the January transfer window if he recovers from his Achilles injury in time to generate interest.

SPORT believe a departure from Barcelona is more likely in the summer, although a January exit remains on the cards if the right offer arrives. Christensen’s contract expires in 2026 and an extension, despite initially being a possibility, is no longer expected to be offered, leaving Barcelona keen to sell before his value drops.

Barcelona believe they already have sufficient cover in defence, where Eric Garcia and Jules Kounde can also play as well as 19-year-old Sergi Dominguez, but there are also plans to snap up Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah when his contract expires.

As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Barcelona are one of the main candidates to sign Tah next summer, but they face competition from Bayern Munich, who failed to convince Leverkusen to sell earlier this year.
