Lawyers for Jay-Z and Beyoncé asked for comments on Piers Morgan’s show implicating them in Diddy’s scandal to be removed — and Piers Morgan issues an apology.

Piers Morgan has issued a public apology to Beyoncé and Jay-Z not even a week after a guest on his “Uncensored” show made comments implicating the couple in the allegations against Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Singer Jaguar Wright mentioned Mr. and Mrs. Carter during an appearance on Morgan’s show on October 2, in which they discussed the mounting allegations against Combs. “I’ve been screaming not just about Diddy, but Diddy and Jay-Z are monsters,” said Wright, alleging that Jay-Z and wife Beyoncé have “hundreds of victims.”

On October 8, Morgan released a public apology sharing that the couple’s lawyers had reached out to clarify that Wright’s claims were “totally false and have no basis in fact.” Morgan said his show will comply with a “legal request” to edit the remarks about the Carters out of the episode.

“Editing interviews is not something we do lightly on a show called ‘Uncensored.’ But, like the proverbial cries of fire in a crowded theater, there are legal limits on us, too,” said Morgan. “And we apologize to Jay-Z and Beyoncé.”

An attorney for the Carters, Alex Spiro, who also represents indicted New York City lawyer Eric Adams, recently discussed Jaguar Wright’s alleged defamation with TMZ. According to Spiro, the “random rumor mill” not only causes harm to those defamed, but drowns out “the voices of real victims.” Spiro called the legal action against Piers Morgan and his show as an “ultimatum,” rather than cease and desist.

“Remove that false accusation, that is demonstrably false, or a court’s going to order you to. And so I think he made the wise choice and acted accordingly.”
