Well, this whole post is going to be one big spoiler, and I’m not wild about the fact that I saw it myself. But if you just cannot wait and you want to know who two of Agatha All Along’s mysterious characters really are, of all places, Funko Pop appears to have leaked that. Spoilers follow.
Teen’s identity is a secret thanks to a glamour that won’t let him tell anyone who he really is. The show is hard pushing the idea that he’s Agatha’s son, Nicholas Scratch, who she traded as a baby for the Darkhold, but the other option has always been that he’s an older version of Billy Maximoff, Wanda’s son, with the idea that he may try to resurrect her at the end of the Witches Road.
He either had to be one or the other, and the Funko Pop, seen on the back of a box of a non-secret Funko Pop before the image was removed, says that he’s Wiccan, aka Billy. So there’s your answer to that, it seems.
The identity of Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal is more of a shock. We know she’s supposed to be a Green Witch with a history with Agatha, but it turns out she’s a more significant Marvel character, as Vidal doesn’t even exist in the comics, and initially appeared to be an amalgam of different magic users.
But, per the omniscience of the Funko Pop, Plaza’s character has been revealed to actually be Death. Not like, the nebulous concept of death, though if you don’t read comics you might think that. In Marvel, Death, or Lady/Mistress Death, is a literal character with significant storylines, including being the love interest of none other than Thanos. The character first debuted in a Captain Marvel comic all the way back in 1973.
There is an additional theory that Plaza’s Vidal is more than one famous Marvel character, taking on different forms like Blackheart and others from a long supernatural villain list. But according to this she’s just Death, and only Death.
As for what that would mean for the show and the MCU at large, well, it doesn’t seem like she’ll be hooking up with Thanos anytime soon. She does not have much overlap with characters like Wanda or Agatha in the comics, but who knows what the MCU has cooked up for her now.
I mean sure, it’s possible the Funko Pops are…wrong, but it seems unlikely as we’ve seen so many leaks from toy listings in the past. So, whatever. I figured Teen was probably Wiccan, though Vidal being Death was a bit more of a surprise. Either way, I can’t wait to see how they reveal that.
