Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti named another irreplaceable player in his team and also explained when its best version will be seen following a much-needed 2-0 win over Real Betis on Sunday night.
Kylian Mbappe was the hero of the hour in the Bernabeu by scoring both Los Blancos’ goals in the second half, but his compatriot Aurelien Tchouameni did much better following off key performances as of late.
“He has shown all his qualities. He is very young, little by little he will learn to play the ball at the right times. Defensively he is an irreplaceable player,” Ancelotti said about the pivot.
On Mbappe, Ancelotti stressed that he didn’t put pressure on the number 9 to score, though he himself admitted that going three games without netting is “a lot for me” in his own post match comments.
“You have to ask him, we never put pressure on him. He played a good game and had chances. I think it’s important for him to score, but we evaluate the collective work more,” Ancelotti said.
The Italian also praised his winger Vinicius Jr., who allowed Mbappe to take a penalty which brought about his second strike despite the winger being brought down in the box, in being “very altruistic” with the gesture.
“They have a good relationship with Rodrygo,” Ancelotti added about the pair, who form a trio with the latter mentioned number 11 up front.
As for the match itself, Ancelotti was left with good feelings from the first half though his men lacked pace.
“Then we had a good second half. Our best version will come little by little,” he vowed.
Ancelotti lamented that the international break is now upon is, which “is never good, because it takes away players”.
“Especially those who fly to South America. The biggest danger is injury. The only thing I ask is that they all come back well,” he wished.
After international football has taken up two weeks of the calendar in September, Real Madrid returns to action in La Liga on the 14th when it will play Real Sociedad away.
