Industry scuttlebutt suggests Amazon Music subscriptions aren’t growing at the same pace as they have been previously. During a UMG financial earnings call in July, EVP, Chief Financial Officer and President of Operations Boyd Muir noted this slowdown among its partners. Muir says the decrease in streaming revenue for UMG could be attributed to “the slowdown in subscriber growth at certain platforms.”
“While Spotify, YouTube, and many regional and local platforms have continued to exhibit healthy growth in subscribers, other large partners who have been less successful in driving global adoption have seen a slowdown in new subscriber additions.”
