Pearl Jam has been on a winning streak throughout 2024. The band began promoting their latest album Dark Matter at the beginning of the year, and the singles from the set have been performing well ever since. This week, the group snags another No. 1, bringing them to the summit on a specific tally for the first time in a decade.
“Wreckage” spent several weeks in the runner-up rung on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart, but it is no longer relegated to second-tier status. The single lifts to No. 1 for the first time this frame, helping the rockers return to the peak position.
Pearl Jam earns their first new No. 1 on the radio ranking in just over a decade. Billboard reports that the last time they appeared in first place on the Adult Alternative Airplay ranking was back in late 2013. That year, their single “Sirens” ruled the list of the most successful tracks at a rock format known as adult alternative for a short time.
The group first hit No. 1 on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart many years into their time together. “Just Breathe” gave the outfit their debut champion back in 2010, when it led the tally for an impressive 13 weeks.
“Wreckage” helps Pearl Jam take over control of the radio list from Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. That band’s single “Heartless” ruled for three weeks, and now it’s stepped down, perhaps for good.
Dark Matter has now spun off two proper singles and one promotional cut. The title track and lead smash was introduced to the public in February, and it became a quick winner on several tallies, including the Mainstream Rock Airplay list. “Wreckage” has also already spent time at No. 1 on that roster as well.
