RM is slated to return to the charts in America in just a few hours. The BTS superstar’s new solo album Right Place, Wrong Person has been announced by Billboard as a sizable commercial win from the jump, and when the company refreshes its weekly tallies, the singer and dancer will appear on a number of them with the title.
According to Billboard, Right Place, Wrong Person marks a new best showing in several ways for RM. Fans of the singer and BTS were quick to support the project, and all their purchases and streams have helped the title become the musician’s most impressive debut in the U.S.
Right Place, Wrong Person launches at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. That marks his loftiest debut on the ranking of the most-consumed albums in America. His only other charting win to reach the loftiest tier on the roster–on his own, that is–kicked off its time on the tally outside the top 10 back in 2022.
In its first tracking frame of availability, Right Place, Wrong Person shifted 54,000 equivalent units. That number includes sales and streaming equivalents, according to Billboard. The company notes that RM has now snagged his largest debut on the Billboard 200 when looking at total units shifted.
That 54,000 units number is largely made up of actual sales, as RM fans didn’t mind opening their wallets and buying Right Place, Wrong Person. The title actually sold 43,000 copies in its first tracking week. Again, that’s a new best showing for the musician when it comes to opening frames.
Of course, these records are no longer historic for RM when looking at his output with BTS. The boy band has risen much higher on the Billboard 200, and they’ve seen many projects launch with significantly larger sums. The group had no issue hitting six-figure sums for several years and with quite a few efforts.
Right Place, Wrong Person marks RM’s second trip to the top 10 on the Billboard 200. His most recent project on his own, Indigo, cracked the highest tier on the tally in 2022. That title climbed all the way to No. 3.
