PSG predicted lineup vs Toulouse

Luis Enrique has the chance to claim his first piece of silverware as Paris Saint-Germain boss on Wednesday night as his side face Toulouse in the 2024 Trophee des Champions.

The 2023 Coupe de France victors are this year’s participants in the PSG invitational, with Les Parisiens taking part in this fixture every year since 2013. Only once have they been beaten.

Despite a fairly rocky start and the impressive resurgences of Nice and Monaco, PSG once again look as if they’ll waltz to another Ligue 1 title. Enrique, though, will be keen to get this trophy under his belt.

Here’s how the Spaniard could set his PSG side up against Toulouse on Wednesday.

GK: Gianluigi Donnarumma – The Italian’s return from suspension is a timely one given that backup goalkeeper Arnau Tenas is set to be absent with a shoulder injury.

RB: Achraf Hakimi – The Moroccan superstar has been one of PSG’s standout performers this season with Enrique evolving his role to ensure he frequently contributes in the final third.

CB: Marquinhos – The Brazilian is hoping to win his eighth Trophee des Champions title on Wednesday night.

CB: Milan Skriniar – A summer arrival from Inter, Skriniar enjoyed his fair share of success in Italy and will be aiming to win his first piece of silverware in Paris.

LB: Lucas Hernandez – The former Bayern defender has been a near mainstay at left-back when he’s been fit and available. He’s the perfect balancer for Hakimi on the opposite flank.

CM: Manuel Ugarte – Ugarte was almost ubiquitous at the start of Enrique’s reign, but the Spaniard shuffled things around towards the end of 2023. Nevertheless, the Uruguayan could earn a start on Wednesday given PSG’s midfield injuries.

CM: Warren Zaire-Emery – While Enrique has been keen to rotate in midfield, Zaire-Emery has swiftly evolved into a key part of the side. He should be starting every game he’s fit for.

CM: Vitinha – Perhaps the most underrated player in this PSG side. Vitinha has taken his game to another level this season, notching seven goal contributions in 16 Ligue 1 appearances.

RW: Marco Asensio – Ousmane Dembele’s absence means Asensio, who has missed much of the season due to injury, could perform a creative role off the right flank. His dynamic with Hakimi should work on paper.

ST: Goncalo Ramos – Enrique can choose between a pair of exciting centre forwards for the starting job. On this occasion, he’ll favour the younger and more efficient Ramos.

LW: Kylian Mbappe – For all of his goalscoring prowess, Mbappe’s record in this fixture is underwhelming. The Frenchman has just one goal in three appearances.
