‘Gundam U.C. Engage’ Comes Westward On Mobile This October

‘Gundam U.C. Engage’ features a great deal of new anime footage.

The mobile game Gundam U.C. Engage that has seen great success in Japan is finally coming Westward this month.

Gundam U.C. Engage is effectively a strategy battle game set during the Universal Century timeline of Gundam and features some interesting “what if” narrative scenarios.

While not full-on Gihren’s Greed levels of narrative plasticity, Gundam U.C. Engage does introduce a new origin to the Gundam Development Project featured in Gundam 0083.

Namely that the starting mobile suit is that of the Engage Zero, which has some interesting and differing technology behind it.

The reason why all of this is actually interesting when it comes to a mobile game is that Bandai Namco and Sunrise have backed this premise up with lots of very nice anime footage within the game.

It’s also noteworthy because the Engage Zero is designed by the enigmatic and lifelong Gundam fan, Tsukasa Kotobuki.

That aside, the game itself features 6 versus 6 3D battles, special moves and over 200 mobile suits, with all the characters that entails.

The pilot of the Engage Zero, Peche Montagne, is also voiced by Maaya Sakamoto, of Escaflowne fame.

In any case, I am glad Gundam U.C. Engage is finally coming Westward, not least because it will help bolster further interest in the Universal Century timeline.

Gundam U.C. Engage is released for iOS and Android devices on October 17.
