Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour in-theater concert film has been slapped with a PG-13 rating ahead of its traffic-stopping world premiere at The Grove in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The opening day has also been bumped up 24 hours from its original Friday the 13th start time.
Ahead of the world premiere of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert film event in Los Angeles today (Wednesday), the movie was hit with a PG-13 rating, leading to a lot of buzz among Swifties. But even those concerned about what might be omitted from the performance to accommodate the rating are focused on whether Taylor herself will make an appearance at The Grove in LA for the world premiere.
The upscale outdoor mall was closed for the day to host the event. Owner Rick Caruso is reportedly compensating the mall’s tenants for lost revenue because of the day-long closure. “The Grove will be closed today. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!” reads a message on the mall’s website.
But AMC Theatres, distributing and hosting the event, will not be losing revenue today, with its 14-screen theater in the shopping mall primed to host the invitation-only event. Locals in the area of The Grove were warned they might encounter road closures or restrictions, with security anticipated to be high and barricades to restrict vehicle traffic on the mall’s perimeter.
While there have been rumors that Swift might make a surprise appearance at the event, like most things Swift-related, if true, Team Swift has kept it close to the chest. Taylor is still on tour right now, but she’s on a break until next month when the tour picks up again in Argentina.
A PG-13 rating means that younger fans will be able to more easily attend the in-theater concert event, but many Swifties are concerned that the rating will limit the number of “f-bombs” permitted to make an appearance — and there are no less than four of them in Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour show. The removal of any of the four f-bombs, fans argue, would negatively affect the film experience.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film will sweep across AMC theaters in North America and beyond starting on Thursday, October 12th — up 24 hours from its original Friday the 13th scheduled start. Don’t forget to bring your friendship bracelets.
