UTA is now the exclusive worldwide talent representative for singer-songwriter Oliver Anthony.
The news comes as a surprise following the singer’s viral uprising earlier this year. Speaking with the press, Oliver Anthony said he wasn’t looking to get into the music industry. He mentioned not wanting to do sold-out stadium tours—but the singer could be well on his way if things pan out. The UTA signup could also be a precursor to serious label and publisher deals.
“We’re honored to represent such an authentic artist, and excited to put together a global strategy to bring Oliver Anthony and his music to the people,” says UTA Co-Head of Nashville Jeffrey Hasson and Music Agent Curt Motley. Oliver Anthony’s country hit “Rich Men North of Richmond” has quickly resonated with Americans. It helped him become the first artist to debut at #1 on the Billboard charts without previously having a song at any position on the charts.
Oliver Anthony already has several tour dates available on his website, including stops in Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, and North Carolina. But the singer recently caught flak from his fans for high concert ticket prices. The singer issued an apology via Facebook after ticket prices were announced at $99 and $200 for a meet-and-greet.
“I apologize for the price at Cotton Eyed Joe. Have a friend of mine trying to help me book gigs. I told him I don’t want to do anything that’s more than $40 a ticket, ideally no more than $25 a piece. These are supposed to be affordable shows. Please don’t pay $90 for a ticket. I’m going to work out the details with him and if we have to reschedule this event somewhere else we will.”
Perhaps Oliver Anthony dropped his buddy and sought professional help after that little fiasco. UTA Music’s client roster ranges from timeless icons to new viral sensations like Oliver Anthony. It offers full-service representation to maximize opportunities in music, television, film, gaming, Esports, web3, fashion, and other business verticals.
