Madonna is currently busy preparing for her The Celebration Tour, which is slated to begin in mid-October in London. As the pop icon continues rehearsing for one of the most highly-anticipated tours in recent memory, one of her recent singles is still performing well on the charts, and it is quickly catching up to some of her biggest hits.
Madonna’s single “Popular” is steady at No. 19 on the current edition of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Billboard’s weekly ranking looks at the most-consumed R&B, hip-hop, and rap tracks in America, using sales, streaming, and radio airplay data. This frame, “Popular” is steady at No. 19.
“Popular” has now lived on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for 14 weeks, and it ranks as one of Madonna’s longest-running hits on the tally. In fact, as of this frame, the tune is tied as the singer’s fourth-longest-charting hit on the tally.

Madonna’s previous smash, “Vogue,” also managed 14 weeks on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart before falling off the list. Ahead of both “Popular” and “Vogue” in terms of weeks spent on the list are her other successes: “Holiday” (18 weeks), “Take A Bow” (16 weeks), and “Like a Virgin” (15 weeks).
Since “Popular” is still present inside the top 20 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, which features 50 spaces, it seems like it will be a while before it falls off the ranking. In the coming frames, Madonna’s current hit single could continue to tie her other past successes, and then surpass many of them. In time, “Popular” could become her longest-charting single.
“Popular” was written and recorded for the TV show The Idol, and it has become the biggest hit from the now-canceled series. The track is led by The Weeknd, who was also in charge of the TV program. “Popular” also features rapper Playboi Carti.
