Ed Sheeran broke the news of the cancellation of his Vegas show on Instagram a little over an hour before showtime.
Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran canceled his Las Vegas performance at Allegiant Stadium on short notice, posting the news on Instagram a little more than an hour before the show was scheduled to begin on Saturday, September 9, citing “challenges” that required postponing the show to October 28.
“I can’t believe I’m typing this, but there’s been some challenges encountered during the load-in of our Vegas show. It’s impossible to go forward with the show,” the singer writes. “I’m so sorry. I know everyone has traveled in for this, and I wish I could change it. The gig will be postponed to Saturday, October 28, and all purchased tickets will be valid for that date,” he concludes. “I’m so, so sorry.”
Allegiant Stadium also announced the rescheduled concert on Twitter: “This evening’s Ed Sheeran concert has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 28. Previously purchased tickets will be valid for the rescheduled date.”
But many fans were reportedly notified of the cancellation through Sheeran’s social media post before the venue seemed fully up-to-date.
Meanwhile, reports of various people awaiting the concert passing out from heat exhaustion began to surface, with the Clark County Fire Department confirming per local news that several people had been treated for “heat-related issues.”
Fans reported that the venue offered poor accommodations for the heat, with “no cups at the water stations set up” and “people sitting on hot pavement using other humans as shade.”
“I wonder who’s gonna compensate our travel, accommodation, and parking,” writes one irate concertgoer. “Plus, what happens if I’m not in Vegas in October? Are you gonna give us tix for another venue?”
“Why would you cancel last minute with Vegas fans already in the venue or in line to enter?” rages another. “Such a disappointment.”
Some fans report that Sheeran spent some time meeting with fans who were in line to see him. Hopefully, he handed out some water.
