Destiny 2 is taking no chances when it comes to today’s raid race for the reprised Crota’s End. With the launch of a new season brings new overpowered builds and new bugs, and Bungie is nuking probably more stuff than I’ve ever seen before for a raid race.
So, if you’re planning to jump into contest mode later today, either to race or just to complete it, you need to know just how much stuff is disabled here:
Gear:
- Tessellation Exotic Fusion Rifle
- Foetracer Exotic Hunter Helmet
Mods:
- Elemental Munitions Mod
- Overload Hand Cannon Mod
- Frenzied Stacks Artifact Mod
- All Ammo Reserve Mods
- All Font Armor Charge Mods
Aspects:
- Warlock Weavewalk Aspect
- Titan Banner of War Aspect
Update: At the last possible minute, Malfeasance, Secant Filaments and the Empowering Finisher mod have also been disabled
Why are these disabled? I don’t know the story behind all of them, but many just seem to be for…strong but not broken builds. Weavewalk was causing problems in PvP, not PvE. Banner of War is just super fun, not broken, it doesn’t seem like. And that makes two of the three new Strand aspects disabled, when many people had probably made builds around them.
A huge amount of mods disabled, I believe the overload hand cannon may have something to do with Malfeasance, but that still does big damage with recent buffs and Lucky Pants, and some people are surprised it’s not disabled itself.
Foetracer has become PvE meta because of its big, near-constant damage boost, but again, it’s intended functionality, not a bug. I don’t know why Tessellation is disabled other than maybe people saying the strong exotic would be pay-to-win because it’s only acquired through an expensive pre-order of The Final Shape, making things not exactly a level playing field.
People were joking that Well of Radiance should be disabled, but at this rate, who knows. Again, I can’t really remember this many things being disabled so broadly. I guess it’s not a huge deal if it puts everyone on the same level, but it does strike me as a bit odd. And then after this, I would expect some patches and hotfixes to fix some of the issues with these items, the ones that do have issues, and perhaps some nerfs as well, unfortunately (don’t touch Banner of War!).
The raid race for Crota’s End kicks off at 1 PM ET today at reset. If you beat it on contest mode, you will automatically get the raid exotic, Necrochasm, a change Bungie has made to reward top raiders. Good luck.
