A concertgoer threw the contents of their drink at Cardi B while she performed onstage, prompting the rapper to throw her microphone into the crowd at her attacker; now the person she hit has filed a police report for battery.

After a rude fan flung a drink at Cardi B during her performance at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas on Saturday, in a now-viral video, the rapper furiously hurled her microphone into the crowd at her attacker while berating the individual. On Sunday, the person she hit (who was allegedly not the same person who threw the drink) filed a report for battery with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

During Cardi B’s performance of her No. 1 hit “Bodak Yellow” at the outdoor show, the rapper is seen reacting quickly when a concertgoer decides to toss the contents of their drink onstage, splashing her face and her outfit. Furious, Cardi chucks her microphone into the crowd at her attacker while yelling at them as security seemingly escorts the individual from the venue.

On Sunday, the concertgoer hit with the microphone filed a police report for battery with the Las Vegas police department. Police say no arrests or citations were issued.

The 30-year-old Cardi B, who released her new song “Jealousy” on Friday featuring her husband, Migos rapper Offset, is the latest artist to face an attack from an audience member.

Last month, an individual was charged with assault after hitting singer Bebe Rexha with a phone and causing lacerations above her eye. In a similar incident, an audience member rushed the stage and slapped singer/dancer Ava Max during her performance while security tackled them to the ground. The incident left the pop star with a scratched eye.

Meanwhile, country star Kelsea Ballerini was hit in the face with a bracelet while onstage. Someone threw a bag of human ashes onstage at Pink in another incident. Lil Nas X was hit with a sex toy during a performance, while Drake and Harry Styles have both recently been hit with objects thrown at them while performing.

During a concert earlier this month, Adele pre-emptively addressed the issue, and people apparently “forgetting show etiquette at the moment, throwing (things) onstage.” She joked later in her performance while wielding a t-shirt gun, “I dare you, dare you to throw something at me.”

“The disregard for personal space and the willingness to inflict harm indicates a significant breakdown in empathy and understanding,” says licensed psychologist Nathan Brandon, explaining that this behavior likely stems from the blurring of real life and online boundaries with fans eager to create a so-called viral moment with their favorite artists.
