LATVIA: on July 10, at At 19:00, the annual free speech championship or free speech battle between the best free speakers in Latvian hip-hop “Stuka and golden eggs for the bazaar” will take place in the Ghetto Games park in Grīziņkaln, portal balticevents.info informs.
8 free speakers will participate in the July 10 battle:
- Burlax, who won 3 out of 4 battles last year;
- Trippy Marks, who got the green card by winning the first battle of this year in Daugavpils;
- Dexter, who presented himself very actively and well in last season’s battles;
- TeniSwami who is determined to fight for victory this year.
The second four, which was determined after two selections in Grīziņkalni:
- Jasso – this year’s Daugavpils batla finalist, a skilled rhyme turner, for whom this will be his debut in the Riga batla;
- Čevski, who showed himself very well in the selection, showing a solid, one of his best performances;
- Kristofers, or AFK – a newcomer to Riga batl, who will surely make the other participants sweat;
- Baumis, who showed in this year’s Daugavpils battle that he has put a lot of effort into his skills. Due to a very happy event, he could not participate in the planned battal selection. After watching both selections, the jury decided to give a wild card to Baum as well.
Free speech allows both young and experienced free speech artists to compete with each other in front of a large audience and a jury. Sharp words alternate with humor, ingenious sentences with unfortunate combinations of words, good ideas with even better execution. Emotions are enhanced by the fact that several hundred spectators watch the event in person, who both cheer and, if necessary, boo the participants, creating a real, unadulterated atmosphere.
Traditionally, selections are held in Riga in several stages to win the opportunity to participate in the grand final. In recent years, the battle of free speech has won not only its place in Riga, but also goes to the biggest cities of Latvia together with “Ghetto Games”.
The Free Speech Battle will be held free of charge this year, so the organizers invite the audience to come support their favorites and have a good time. The event is family-friendly, no swear words are used, it starts at 19:00. Exactly 1000 EUR is also what the winner of the free speech battle will be able to win by winning this competition.
