Tamil cinema, over the years has told stories mostly from the male viewpoint and the few female directors who have made their mark more often than not opted for female empowerment subjects. However Sudha Kongara changed all that made an out and out action film on debut with ‘Drohi’. She then found universal acclaim for her mature sports drama ‘Irudhi Suttru’ and her powerful ‘Soorarai Pottru’ that had Suriya playing a common man who pioneered private airline business.
Sudha is currently directing the Hindi remake of ‘Soorarai Pottru’ which like the original is based on the life of GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan. She however has shared photos of her arm in cast and has revealed that she has sustained severe injury.
Sudha Kongara wrote on Twitter “Super painful. Super annoying! On a break for a month. Not The Kind Of Break I Wanted”. The maverick filmmaker is committed to direct Suriya in an epic film next that is planned to go on floors later in the year. GET WELL SOON!
