This week finally put an end to the series of Galaxy S23 series leaks after nearly ever week since last summer either had some or was completely dominated by them. That also means that the Galaxy S23 series offered almost no surprises, which takes away some of the fun.
We were able to get the new Galaxy S23 Ultra in time to do a quick camera shootout with its predecessor, the Galaxy S22 Ultra. We compared the new 200MP camera to its 108MP forebear, as well as the 3x and 10x zoom cameras of new and old. The new main camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra snaps sharper images with noticeably higher detail levels. Some might even say the images are a tad oversharpened but the detail advantage is undeniable, even in low light.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra went on pre-order this week around the world, starting from €1,400 in Europe, $1,200 in the States, and ₹115,000 in India. Shipping dates vary between countries but the earliest arrivals should be sometime after Monday.
The Galaxy S23 and S23+, sales will start in a couple of weeks. Here are the starting prices: the S23 (8/128GB) is $800/€950/₹80,000, and the S23+ (8/256GB) is $1,000/€1,210.
We got our first glimpse of the Sony Xperia 1 V, touting a similar-looking rear design but with the notable lack of a ToF camera and the RGB IR sensor. The Xperia 1 V is expected to be the thinnest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 device when it becomes official, likely at the Mobile World Congress later this month.
We now turn our attention to the OnePlus event due next week. It will bring, among other things, the OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 11R. We’ll cover those in detail once they arrive.
See you in a week!
