Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has, on Saturday evening, provided an insight into the reasoning behind Fabinho’s surprise absence from his matchday squad to face Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Klopp, of course, guided his troops back into action a short time ago.
After clinching victory in just one of their prior six outings across all competitions, the Reds made the trip to Molineux, desperate to get things back on track in a Premier League meeting with relegation-battling Wolves.
When all was said and done in the English midlands, however, the alarming situation at Liverpool only proceeded to take another turn for the worse.
This came as an early Joel Matip own goal was followed by further strikes on the part of Craig Dawson and Ruben Neves, en route to a remarkable 3-0 Wolves triumph.
One member of Klopp’s ranks to have played no part in the club’s latest embarrassing defeat, though, as alluded to above, comes in the form of Fabinho.
Though the Brazilian has endured a difficult campaign to date, he was at the very least expected to take his place on the bench on Saturday evening.
Speaking on the back of the full-time whistle at Molineux, boss Klopp, in turn, was drawn on the whereabouts of his midfield general.
And the German tactician went on to reveal that Fabinho is currently suffering with a bout of illness:
Klopp says Fabinho was absent today due to illness.
