Korean content platform RIDI announced on Thursday that it will shut down Kanta, its short-form live-action platform in Japan, as part of a restructuring of its business portfolio.
RIDI launched Kanta in Japan in July 2025, offering short-form dramas based on Korean content. The company said it decided to discontinue the service to focus its resources on its fan community platform business built around comics, webtoons, and web novels amid the rapidly changing global market.
RIDI plans to use the production expertise and user data accumulated through Kanta to expand its intellectual properties and strengthen its related businesses. The company will also explore new ways to utilize the IP assets acquired through the service.
