Madonna announces the release of “Confessions II – The Film,” directed by David Toro and Solomon Chase, on YouTube on June 8 at 11 AM ET.
Today (June 5), Madonna announced online that she will release “Confessions II – The Film” on YouTube on June 8 at 11 AM ET. Directed by David Toro and Solomon Chase (Torso), the film is having its world premiere tonight at the Beacon Theatre in New York City for the Tribeca Film Festival. Madonna will be in attendance, joining the directors for an interview afterward, hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
“CONFESSIONS II THE FILM has arrived. June 8th, 11am EST only on YouTube,” Madonna wrote alongside a poster of the film on Instagram. “See you tonight [at Tribeca]!”
“[B]uilt around the first six tracks of Madonna’s forthcoming album, including ‘I Feel So Free’ and ‘Bring Your Love’ with Sabrina Carpenter, [Confessions II] unfolds as a single, continuous piece, weaving together interconnected, music-driven sequences into an immersive cinematic experience,” the festival’s website describes. “A film that gives physicality to the music, Confessions II lives in the tension between control and surrender, between being seen and disappearing into a crowd.”
The release, which exceeds 10 minutes, will feature guest appearances by Arca, Archie Madekwe, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cole Palmer, Debi Mazar, Gwendoline Christie, Honey Dijon, João Pedro, Julia Garner, Kate Moss, Odessa A’zion, Richard E. Grant, Shygirl, and Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon.
In April, Madonna debuted the Confessions II album’s first single, “I Feel So Free,” just ahead of her surprise performance during Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining set during Weekend Two of Coachella. Together, they debuted their new duet, “Bring Your Love,” which was then released on streaming platforms.
Madonna has been running the press circuit to promote the album. On Thursday, she took over Times Square for a surprise set sponsored by Grindr. She performed three songs and debuted the third single from Confessions II, “Love Sensation.” That song is also now available across DSPs, alongside a radio edit.
