Sony Pictures and the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) reveal the first-look images of Sam Mendes’ four-film Beatles biopic series.

Four printed postcards shared online and hidden throughout the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) for students to find reveal a sneak-peek at Sam Mendes’ four-film series about the life of each member of the Beatles. Each postcard shows a member of the cast: Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr.

“We’ve been given exclusive postcards promoting the new Beatles movies!” shared LIPA’s official Instagram account on Thursday. “We’ve hidden them around LIPA, and we want students to find them.”

It’s a unique marketing tactic for an already unique approach to biopic filmmaking. Each of the films centers on a different member of the Beatles, and all four films will be released in April 2028. Beyond the actors playing the Beatles themselves, the production features Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, Anna Sawai (Shogun) as Yoko Ono, and Aimee Lou Wood (The White Lotus) as Pattie Boyd.

“You have to match the boldness of the idea with a bold release strategy,” said Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman. “There hasn’t been an enterprise like this before, and you can’t think about it in traditional releasing terms.”

Production has begun on the films, for which Mendes officially announced the four leads at last year’s CinemaCon.

“We’re not just making one film about the Beatles—we’re making four,” Mendes told the crowd, joined on stage with the films’ four stars. “Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.”

Mendes is producing the film for Neal Street Productions alongside Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor. Tony Award and BAFTA winner Jack Thorne, Tony Award winner Jez Butterworth, and Oscar winner Peter Straughan wrote the screenplays. The production also marks the first time that the Beatles’ label, Apple Corps, has backed a scripted film based on their lives.

“We intend this to be a uniquely thrilling and epic cinematic experience: four films, told from four different perspectives, which tell a single story about the most celebrated band of all time,” said Pippa Harris when the project was initially announced. “To have the Beatles’ and Apple Corps’ blessing to do this is an immense privilege.”
