Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are getting married this weekend in an over-the-top Venice takeover. Rumors are swirling that both Elton John and Lady Gaga will perform at the ceremony—but information is conflicting. Here’s a peek at who we know is in attendance so far, based on pictures.
Bezos and Sánchez exchanged vows and tied the knot on San Giorgio Island on Friday, according to reports. The ceremony took place in a small location off the cost of Venice’s St. Mark’s Square. The location features a church built between 1566 and 1610 and is known as the Basilica di San Giorgio Maggiore—which is where the ceremony took place. In attendance for this intimate ceremony and singing afterward was Matteo Bocelli, son of Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.
Festivities costing an estimated $50 million will culminate on Saturday, with a star-studded celebrity list of guests in attendance. Media outlets like Reuters are reporting that Elton John and Lady Gaga are set to perform for the wider ceremony. However, a report from Page Six has conflicting information about whether or not Lady Gaga is set to perform at the upcoming celebration.
“Lauren wanted some big talent to sing for them, and it just doesn’t get any bigger than Gaga or Elton,” a Bezos insider said in speaking with Page Six. That same insider suggested both singers agreed to perform because they are “good friends and were happy to do it together.” However, another Lady Gaga insider spoke with Page Six and said that an overseas wedding event wasn’t on her calendar amid prep for her world tour starting in July.
Based on photos captured of celebrities arriving in Venice in preparation for tomorrow, we know these musicians are in attendance as guests:
- Usher: Spotted arriving at the welcome party with his wife Jenn Goicoechea.
- Ellie Goulding: Made a surprise appearance at the Thursday evening rehearsal and was photographed at wedding events.
- Kygo: TMZ suggests the Norweigan DJ Kygo is in attendance to perform for the festivities.
Rumors of Katy Perry’s attendance are false as she’s currently performing in Adelaide, Australia for her Lifetimes Tour. Those performances run June 26,27, 29, and 30. While tomorrow may be free for Katy Perry to attend, it’s unlikely as her former fiance Orlando Bloom is in attendance. Those two recently split this week after calling off a nine-year engagement.
