50 Cent threw his microphone into the crowd during his Los Angeles performance on Wednesday, striking a woman in the head and potentially drawing criminal charges.
Taking a page from the Cardi B book, 50 Cent hurled his microphone into the crowd and struck a woman in the head during a Los Angeles performance of his Final Lap Tour on Wednesday.
In footage posted to social media, the rapper seemed to have issues with his microphone as a stagehand appeared to offer him more than one. 50 appears to drop one mic off the side of the stage before launching a second full-speed into the crowd.
Sources present during the incident told TMZ that 50 Cent wasn’t intentionally trying to hit anyone. Nonetheless, the microphone he launched into the crowd struck a woman in the forehead. That individual has since been identified as Power 106 host Bryhana Monegain, photos of whom surfaced on Instagram with multiple lacerations on her head.
Monegain has since filed a police report, and law enforcement sources tell TMZ they have reason to believe 50 Cent intentionally threw the mic at his crew in the production area. Monegain was allegedly not authorized to be in the production area, but this argument holds little water in light of her injuries. She told law enforcement that 50 looked directly at her before throwing the mic, leading her to believe he knew she was there.
50 Cent’s attorney, Scott Leemon, told TMZ: “Let’s be very clear, as I told LAPD this afternoon, my client (50 Cent) would never intentionally strike anyone with a microphone. Anyone saying something different doesn’t have all the facts and is misinformed.” Regardless, 50 Cent is now a suspect in a criminal felony battery report.
In a similar incident last month, Cardi B angrily threw her microphone at a fan in the crowd who threw a drink at her during a performance in Las Vegas. The mic hit a different nearby person, who filed a police report, but Cardi was ultimately cleared of any charges.
These microphone-throwing moments come on the heels of multiple instances of artists being hit with objects thrown at them onstage, including Pink, Harry Styles, Kelsea Ballerini, Lady Gaga, Drake, Lil Nas X, and Bebe Rexha.
